EMERGENCY QUESTIONS

Keep the decision simple.

Should I call before going to an emergency veterinary clinic?+

Yes when possible. Confirm the clinic is open, can receive the case and knows you are coming. Do not allow the call to create a dangerous delay.

Can Catopedia tell me whether it is safe to wait?+

No. Online information cannot examine a cat or determine stability. Contact a veterinary professional whenever you are uncertain.

What should I bring?+

Bring current medication details, relevant medical records, identification and any packaging related to a suspected exposure, provided gathering it does not delay departure.

Should I give food, water or medication first?+

Not unless a veterinary professional instructs you. The appropriate response depends on the emergency and planned assessment or treatment.

What if I cannot reach my regular veterinarian?+

Use the clinic’s after-hours instructions or contact a local emergency veterinary hospital. Verify that the facility is open before traveling when possible.
